🪵 Ayous / Obeche Wood Exporter in Cameroon – FOB Douala

Ayous / Obeche wood exporter in Cameroon supplying lightweight African hardwood timber for furniture manufacturing, interior joinery, plywood, veneer, and industrial processing. Ayous (also known as Obeche) timber is supplied in Air-Dried (AD) or Kiln-Dried (KD) condition and shipped under FOB Douala terms with complete export documentation.

Because Ayous is often used in high-volume production, export orders follow clear specifications for moisture content, grading, and packing. As a result, buyers receive consistent material suitable for immediate processing upon arrival.

About Ayous / Obeche Wood

Ayous, commonly called Obeche, is a soft, lightweight tropical African hardwood widely valued for its excellent workability and uniform texture. In particular, manufacturers prefer Ayous for applications that require easy machining, smooth finishing, and low tool wear.

Moreover, Ayous accepts glue, paint, and veneers very well. Although it is not naturally durable for exterior exposure, proper treatment allows extended use in protected environments.

For these reasons, Ayous / Obeche is commonly used for:

  • Furniture frames and components

  • Interior doors and panels

  • Plywood and veneer production

  • Moldings and profiles

  • Packaging and lightweight construction

  • Musical instruments and model making

Therefore, buyers can verify compliance before shipment and reduce import risk.

Why Buyers Source Ayous / Obeche from Cameroon

Cameroon remains one of the main origins for export-grade Ayous due to established forestry operations and access to the Port of Douala. Consequently, buyers benefit from stable supply, competitive FOB pricing, and efficient shipping routes to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Additionally, Ayous often ships alongside other African hardwood species to optimize container loading and reduce freight costs.

Madera ligera y práctica para trabajos interiores

November 24, 2025

Practical Ayous Wood for Clean Interior Work

April 16, 2025

I chose Ayous from Mbakwood for interior fittings, mainly wall panels and lightweight shelving where ease of handling was more important than hardness. The wood was easy to move around the workshop and simple to cut, which saved time during installation.

The shipment came from Cameroon by sea and arrived in good order. After unpacking, I let the boards rest indoors for a few days before working them. They stayed straight and showed no unexpected movement, which made planning much easier.

Ayous is soft, so it requires a bit of care, but that’s also what makes it pleasant to work with. It sands quickly and accepts paint very evenly, giving a smooth, uniform finish. I wouldn’t use it for heavy-duty furniture, but for interior applications it does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

Overall, this was a sensible choice for the project at hand, and I’d consider using Ayous again for similar interior jobs.

Lightweight Ayous That’s Easy to Handle and Finish

October 24, 2024

I ordered Ayous (Obeche) from Mbakwood for interior work, mainly ceiling panels and lightweight furniture components. What stood out immediately was how light the wood is, which made handling and installation much easier, especially for larger sections.

The shipment was sent by sea from Cameroon and arrived in good condition. The boards were well packed and showed no damage from transport. After a short acclimation period, the wood stayed stable and flat, which is important when working on interior finishes.

Ayous cuts very easily and is forgiving on tools. It sands quickly and takes paint and veneer well, making it a good choice for projects where a clean, uniform look is required rather than visible grain. There were a few soft spots, but that’s expected with this species and easy to work around.

Overall, I’m satisfied with the quality. Ayous from Mbakwood proved to be practical, efficient, and well suited for interior applications where weight and ease of use matter.
